We use Cognitive Hypnotherapy to aid in the treatment of issues such as panic attacks, phobias, migraines, low self-esteem, eating disorders, depression, O.C.D, stammering and P.T.S.D. The aim of Cognitive Hypnotherapy is to change negative memories, which are causing issues. Cognitive hypnotherapy uses your natural trance states (as you may experience when driving) to assist in uncovering feelings, thoughts and memory patterns. If you accept the premise that the mind and the body communicate with one another, then the quality of your thoughts will have an impact on the stress levels within your body. If you're thinking negatively, or view the world through a collection of limiting beliefs, then the body's response to this places an unsustainable burden on the immune system, which can ultimately lead to illness. A healthy mind is essential for a healthy body.

How is Cognitive Hypnotherapy different to traditional hypnotherapy?

Our approach is different from the traditional schools of hypnotherapy. We as Cognitive Hypnotherapists draw on recent discoveries and ideas from evolutionary psychology, positive psychology, cognitive theory and neuro linguistic programming (NLP) and incorporate them into a modern idea of hypnosis to provide a framework for therapy. We use a range of techniques drawn from different disciplines that we have found to be the most effective tools for change. These are moulded into an approach tailored to your specific needs.

What will happen during the treatment?

You are totally in control throughout the treatment; your practitioner just acts as a guide to help you find the solution to your problem. Have you have ever been driving and all of a sudden realise you have reached your destination and not remembered getting there? This is the same level of trance we get to in your session and it is ultimately when your subconscious takes over. Your subconscious will always keep you safe, it just allows you to go into an altered state of mind (trance) and it is at this time it is possible to reframe negative memories that are maybe holding you back.

Do you incorporate neuro linguistic programming (NLP) into treatments and what is this?

Releasing negative thought patterns and replacing them with positive ones, creates the conditions necessary to re-build your health. On its own NLP can provide a potent means for personal change. Incorporated within Cognitive Hypnotherapy it provides a cutting edge approach to modern therapy that can provide positive change quickly and permanently.

As a qualified Cognitive Hypnotherapist, Anne offers clients a tailor-made session using a combination of talking therapies to facilitate change. She specialises in helping people with stress-related issues, anxiety and panic attacks as well as clients with a range of other issues - such as phobias and exam nerves and individuals suffering with OCD, to name a few. Anne is a graduate of the Quest Institute, an internationally renowned training school for Cognitive Hypnotherapy in London, and was trained by Trevor Silvester who is a leading expert in the field. She is a member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH), which promotes the highest training and ethics standards in the sector. Jersey-born Anne, who was previously part of the Lido Wellness Centre team, is also a neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) practitioner.
